100 Million Minutes-Reading Challenge

1st – 29th March 2018

Larkrise is very excited to announce that we have just signed up for the 100 Million Minutes Reading Challenge 2018 – a national reading initiative from education charity Achievement for All.

We are joining with schools, early years settings and community groups up and down the country to time how long we read for each day from the 1st through to the 29th of March. All of our reading minutes will be added together and hopefully, as a nation, we will have read for a whopping 100 million minutes in March!

Because, we know that introducing all children and young people to the habit of enjoying books together can improve attention, confidence and communication skills as well as brighten future prospects. Reading together is a great way to develop and strengthen relationships. And it really is a lot of fun!

So please help us to help the nation reach its 100,000,000 minutes of reading by sharing a book with your child each night and recording their total minutes of reading each time. If your child enjoys reading independently, again, make a note of how long they have been enjoying their book for and send their total number of reading minutes into school each day.  Every child’s reading minutes will be added to our School Reading Minutes Totaliser… and the more minutes we notch up the greater our chances of winning a prize!

So don’t forget, every minute counts!

Happy Reading everyone!
